ABOUT US

Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week, usually held in August in Kuala Lumpur, capital city of Malaysia, is a series of fashion events lasting 5 days where the Fashion Week ‘Runway’ Collections are shown to customers, buyers, the press, and the public. Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week was created in 2013 as a platform for Malaysian designers to present and showcase their ready-to-wear collections, with the hopes of highlighting the strengths and creativity of Malaysia's Fashion Industry to local and international consumers. Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week is held at the Pavilion Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia in August and attracts more than 150,000 people.

Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week is reserved for fashion professionals and can only be attended by invitation through the showcased Designers or by accreditation. Journalists, bloggers, and buyers are accredited by the organizers of the event and the Ready-to-Wear Brands who select any guests they choose to invite. The aim of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week is to develop the Malaysian fashion industry, providing emerging young designers and renowned designers a continuous fashion retail platform that gives recognition to Malaysian made fashion and retail items .KLFW was created by Mr. Andrew Tan, who was invited to an event in Buckingham Palace, London, for the Commonwealth Fashion Exchange, which encourages emerging designers to display their talents and showcase it to the world.

Through the Commonwealth Fashion Council of UK, and the United Nations Technology Innovation Labs (UNTIL)’s emphasis on a Global Scale sustainable development goal, one of the most successful initiatives was created. Design-to-Sustain is a yearly show segment that brings tremendous awareness to sustainability where emerging designers are selected to create a collection either through new textile technology, upcycling, or repurposing fabrics.  Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week is made possible with the support of many generous sponsors and partners who believe in KLFW’s motto of ‘Malaysia for the World - From Grass Roots to International’. Currently, many Malaysian Brands have successfully secured International Retailers in Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America through a network of physical presence as well as
e-commerce.
